how do I get my cd-rom to be recognized in Dos?

If you can't boot directly from the CD, check your BIOS settings to make sure CD Boot is before HDD, etc.
If that doesn't work, try using the Windows Me boot floppy from
BootDisk
, then running X:\Setup, where X is your CD drive letter.
