A project i started that needs a name...

edited January 2013 in Software
Hello I started a project that will be somewhat like "Ultimate Boot CD". But I want mine to work with PCs old and new. It will have:

-grub4dos (a bootloader that is used on cd)

-Multiple DOS 6.22 Boot floppy images

-Many utilities

-Some security apps

-more

But the thing is I have no name for it, so what will be a good name for the project?

Also I want to create a splash screen for it without losing image quality.

  • I would call it:

    UltiBoot [Version]

Here's an image of a potential splash screen:

  • Now are you going to have a mini os on it to like mini xp or mini win 2000? that's a nice splash screen for it. should you use like ms dos 7 since that will do bigger drives and fat 32. Ms dos 6.22 will only work on hard drives up to 2gb and fat 16.
  • Really what you should establish here is if you are:

    A. Trying to produce something useful that others can benefit from.

    OR

    B. Just in this for the experience, cool factor and/or educational benefit.

Once you figure that out, you should move forward with a general goal/objective/purpose. If you are doing this for reason A. then you most certainly don't want to re-invent the wheel. I challenge you to take a step back and think about your "project".
  • The post above adds no value to this thread. What if the same reasoning was applied to Ubuntu and Debian. Well, Debian's okay and it does all that I need, so why create Ubuntu? Or why even create Linux when there's Minix? Same thing.
