    I use VMware Workstation 9 for my virtual machines. If you are trying to run a virtual machine (still), I'll be more than happy to throw my Virtual machine into a .zip archive for you (if that's allowed).

    Just strip Windows XP to hell, run as few programs as needed, and use it minimally. You'll be fine.
