Sorry, if this question has already been asked, but can this be ran on a virtual machine?

OS X server 1.0 was designed for the PowerPC architecture, however, last time I checked, you'd need to use pearPC to emulate that. Don't even consider trying sheepshaver for that as it doesn't seem to work properly with anything newer than... MacOS 9.1 (I think?)
Installation *should* be the same as installing any other version of Mac OSX likely, I haven't tried that in practice. Hitting the pearpc forums gives a mixed opinion if it's installable, some say it's possible, others say it's impossible and pointless.
Quick Google search gives me these tutorials for installing older Mac OSX versions in pearpc:

  • OS X Server 1.0 is more akin to the early Rhapsody DR1/2 builds than final OS X as we know it 10.0+. Never tried it, but I highly doubt this will work on PearPC. I know it was selective and usually required a G3 and only a G3 to run.
  • Well I'm aware that Rhapsody DR2 is capable of being ran on Vmware, which is why I asked.
