Linksys WMP11 in NT 6.x. Possible?

edited May 2014 in Hardware
I recently stole a PCI wifi card from a friend (he didn't mind), and I put it in to my computer. It currently runs Server '08 (not r2) and W7. I know using it in 7 is not possible because of an architecture-driver conflict (it's 64-bit, the driver is 32), but how would I go about making it work in Server '08 (a 32)?

The latest driver was released in '04, for XP.

  • Ew, 802.11b, I see why your friend didn't mind that you stole it.

Could you please provide the hardware version as well so we have complete information? It looks like Linksys made a WMP11 v4.0 and WMP11 v2.7 or at least those are the versions with support listed on their Downloads page.
  • You're out of luck, there isn't a 64bit driver out for it. Even the Mac guys are out of luck. If you really want to use the card try Linux and run a VM with a guest as Server 08.

You could try and play with Server 03 drivers but run server 08 in 32bit if you can.
  • It's a 2.7, and my pc immensely lags after installing drivers. (Seems to be caused by CPU3 always using 100%.)

For now I'm just gonna invest in a newer card.
  • You should do that anyway. 802.11b is terrible. My old PowerMac has an original Airport card in it, and it's unbearable to move a file over it.. yet I can't be arsed to run an ethernet cable across my room for it.
