SOLVED Question about timebomb on Windows 8/8.1 test builds.

edited June 2014 in Software
I still have Windows 8 Dev. Preview and Release Preview builds which i downloaded back when they were released.

Since build 8400 is my favorite (the default aero glass and wallpapers are beautiful). I decided to take it for a ride...One year later. :D

A strange thing i noticed is: Even though it says the license has expired and obviously cannot be activated, nothing happens. The system continues to work without a hitch, no restarts, no black wallpaper.

I was even able to use windows update.

Does this mean the timebomb in this build is broken?

I felt so nostalgic now :D

  • Absolutely not. It just means the timebomb is less restrictive. You'll still force restart every 2 hours and the lock screen can't be changed.
  • Nevermind...
I guess i didn't wait enough to see the timebomb in action.
