Creative Labs JukeBox Midi player for Windows 3.0

edited October 2014 in Software
Came across this interesting bit while looking through uploads, the Sound Blaster 2.0 came with a MIDI player that ran under Windows 3.0. Since plain old Windows 3.0 does not have any multimedia subsystem, this program must operate by accessing the OPL2 IO ports directly!

Most of the Midis sound like ass using this player, but, hey, its Multimedia! Surprised I never noticed this player before. I guess my Sound Blasters never happened to come with that.

Oh, and interestingly, I noticed this even worked when running in 8088 Real Mode.

I recall there was also a third party driver that would replace the Windows 3.0 default beep with an Adlib/Sound Blaster OPL2 sound effect. Get all kinds of crazy sounds out of Windows 3.0! :)
