DOS Game Rips

edited November 2014 in Site Issues
Are DOS games ripped from Steam accepted? The games themselves aren't copy restricted by Valve's DRM software. If you wanted to, it would be easy to run it in a pure DOS environment just fine.

There doesn't seem to be an answer to this on the upload page, so I just wanted to ask.

EDIT: In my opinion disk images would be better, but I have none I can offer. I also don't have a floppy drive.

  • If they are ripped from Steam they are more than likely still being sold by their developers and are not in compliance with our abandonware policies.
  • Okay.

I just thought that since DOOM II wasn't in the library, I could upload the copy I have on Steam.

I just wasn't 100% clear on the requirements for a contribution, so that's why I asked.

That is incredibly common software. No need for it to be here, it is not going to disappear any time soon.

    Well, why not? :)

Well I do, but none of them work.
