ISA to USB Adapter

edited April 2015 in Hardware
I was bored and I was trying to find a ISA to PCI adapter but there isn't any. However I found one that works with USB 2.0.

Just in case if anyone has a ISA card that doesn't have a PCI form factor and really need it.

  • If you search hard enough you can find modern(ish) boards with ISA slots. These come from industrial control systems, I've found them online with socket 775, and I'm sure I've seen socket 1155 too,

  • I think the limitation is no ISA DMA on boards with Intel chipsets past the 865.

If you want the opposite, I think there are ISA USB cards. USB 1.0 though.
  • I recall a while back seeing an external ISA expansion box that would attach via a PCI or PCIe slot. But as I recall it was designed and priced more for industrial use, and likely has similar if not more compatiblity limitations.
  • I've seen ISA slots on moden'ish motherboards as well. Mostly up to Pentium 3 and some few Pentium 4. Theres also the passive SHB backplane systems that are single board computers that use i7 CPUs, they can use up to 24 ISA slots. I just think the USB adapter I found would be more easier to use for home use / small business.

I looked at ISA to PCI-E and all I can find are adapters to convert PCI to PCI-E.
