Bad's Files? OS 8

downloaded the following image:
OS 8 and OS 8.1

The resulting .img isn't recognized by OS X, OS 9, nor Toast. What am I supposed to do with it then?

How do i do with *.img? (in Yasomite or Tiger , or Windows)

Exactly which download did you chose? Those should all contain ISO files.

download "Apple Mac OS 8.1 [French].7z" -> with 7z program -> I got "F693-1589.img" file

Ok, the french version is in some unknown format. The .img is not an ISO, and the contents appear compressed. Apple DiskImage perhaps? If that is the case, then it is probably also useless as it is supposed to be a Macintosh file, but its resource fork is missing.

The English version contains a normal ISO.

just rename .img to .iso
