Sorry for asking such a silly question, but what is the suggested method of dealing with IMG files? Windows 10 won't mount them because it claims they are corrupt...
Typically, you use WinImage to open IMG and IMA files. This will let you extract individual files or write images to a real floppy disk. (Some copy protected software may require other tools)
Much of the software on this site will require an emulator if you wish to run it on a newer computer. With most emulators you simply tell the emulator to use the image file for its drive A or B, and then access the content from within the emulator.

There also exists ImageDisk for .IMD files and TeleDisk for .TD0 files, which preserve interleaving and other features necessary for certain copy-protection schemes.

In regards to emulation, I recommend PCE for emulation of the IBM Personal Computer (Model 5150) and IBM Personal Computer/XT (Model 5160) and PCem for emulation of the IBM Personal Computer/AT (Model 5170). PCE will also work for emulation of 80186-based machines (if its documentation is correct, that is).
