Assistance in installing DOS 6.22 in Work. Player 12

edited August 2015 in Software
After I downloaded the MS-DOS 6.22 Retail Version from the library, I installed a virtual machine on VMware Workstation Player 12 with the following specs.: 16 MB of RAM, 2 GB hard drive, and a CD and floppy drive. When I try to boot it, it didn't and left an error message. How do I attach logs? If you can, please send your reply by email: charlielin213@gmail.com. Please!

  • You could just type the error message.

You probably forgot to tell it to boot from the A: (floppy) drive instead of C:
  • One, this is a forum and posting your email in plaintext with no anti-spam is saying 'bots add me to a spamlist' and two replying by email would entirely defeat the purpose of forums.

As for your problem you'll need to be a bit more specific as to where / what gave you the error (VMware itself or DOS, etc.). You shouldn't need to upload full logs but you can use a Pastebin service or simply post it inside

     tags.

If I recall correctly, you need to mount the first floppy disk and configure the virtual macihne boot from the virtual floppy drive. Then use fdisk to partition the drive and format it, then reboot and run the install from Disk 1. I've used DOS 6.22 + Windows 3.1 in VMware Workstation without any difficulty in the past.
