rhapsody on original hardware
hi folks, just found this place and am might impressed. have always wanted to play with NeXTSTEP and this is the only place on the web that i've found with sources. also, i am mightily impressed to find the original mac os x server aka rhapsody. i am very sad that i got rid of my powermac g3 server back in the day, as it ran rhapsody perfectly. it's the same machine i ran it on commercially around its release. is there anyone else here who had personal experience of it?
yes, it was a little flaky, but we found it to be more reliable than appletalk server, which caused us infinite problems. the web admin interface for rhapsody was genius and, on the right hardware, it ran like a charm. i see people are mostly running these softwares on VMs now, but i'm much more of a fan of using original hardware.
anyway, kudos to the community for your unique contribution to computing history.
EDIT: turns out that, according to this i might actually be able to run a later build on my power mac g4!
