laptop problem

edited December 2015 in Hardware
right after i was done recording my video, i went to see it, but when i tried to open the documents folder, it crashed windows explorer. i tried restarting my computer and it still happened. about 1.5 hours later, i turned it on, and after i went on my logon screen, it started behaving like it was being charged by a lower voltage charger. i tried opening my documents twice and it crashed windows explorer. then i tried changing the power source to high performance (it was on power saver) and it still crashed windows explorer. when i went on mozilla firefox to go to winboards to type in this, another thing happened. right when the winworldpc website showed up, both of my mouse drivers stopped working, so i had to navigate using the tab key. is there any way to fix this?

  • Sounds like the OS got fucked up somehow. Restore from a backup/restore point if you have one, or you may be forced to re-install the OS. Could be the hardware, but that requires much more complex diagnosing, so try dealing with the OS first.

I agree. But sometimes restarting more times helps. I remember that my old NEC Versa E660 had the same problem with the mouse and I restarted 50 times and it got better. For the shell problem, try reinstalling EXPLORER or use REGEDIT and try to find something abnormal. Also, try reinstalling your MOUSE drivers. That sometimes also helps! =)
  • If a first attempt of restarting failed then it will fail every time. Honestly it sounds software related and could most be likely a virus unless you have been fumbling with system files and settings.

    Well, what about my NEC?

  • Okay, try booting into safe mode with command prompt, MAKE SURE IT IS RAN AS ADMINISTRATOR!
Next; type: sfc /SCANNOW and press enter, it should scan your windows installation for problems, if it finds some issues, then you may need to repair your computer using your installation disc

If no problems are found, then type into the prompt: chkdsk /F /R
This will check the HDD for errors and remap them
  • How old is that disk? Chances are it has expired, or is close to. Boot up a winpe with usb drive and scan with hdtune portable or some SMART program. If it's failing, you could have a very limited usage time before it's toast. Best copy all your important files now in preparation.
  • Well po lu, you had to of done something else besides constantly rebooting the system.

Huh, I forgot I booted on to Safe Mode with CMD and done something to get it to work. Then I restarted for the fiftyth time!
Thanks for reminding me that I hade done something! That memory was about to get pushed out of my mind!
(I think it was reinstalling drivers useing CMD and an USB!)
