Interesting, isn't it?

It's a RC, maybe WinWorld could carry it? MS is offering it for free.

  • It is curious they have it up for download, but not really interesting itself. Winworld does not host windows versions newer than Whistler in order to stay off of Mcriosofts radar.
  • I don't think it's free.
If you go to the Details tab you see in big letters the word "EVALUATION"
It seems to be a 120-days trial version of Windows
  • I felt like downloading this and to see what it's like (even if it's just a server counterpart of WinXP) but I've got a problem... the ISO somehow can't be read by either VirtualBox or Virtual PC 2007 when trying to install it under any of these. I don't know what's going on here...
  • I know what this is
It's an upgrade build that needs to be ran from an already installed Win2k3.

    There's no i386 folder.

EDIT: Also, you should look at the readme file at the root of the disk
  • This is appears to be (from the filesize, I can't be fucked to check), just the R2 installer.

R2 was never an actual standalone OS, you installed 2003 then R2 on top.

I wonder what the RC means then. I thought it meant "release candidate".
  • it's probably a release candidate for the R2 additions. (which, AFAIK, included SharePoint, POSIX additions, AD Federation etc.)
