Any good alternative to wicd?

edited June 2016 in Software
Hello everybody, I'm currently trying to gain some confidence into finding a new and or better alternative to wicd network manager. The reason I am asking is that it has gotten to the point that the manager barley works at all, and dumps my connection at random times for no apparent reason.

Thanks in advance.

  • It might be your wireless connection.

NetworkManager works fine for me. (Unfortunately, command-line WiFi tooling on Linux is... crap.)
  • It may be my wifi connection. Either way my families Internet connection is, well, shit, although my siblings have a seamless connection when using their M$ Windows 10. it has just gotten to the point that I am willing to purge wicd out of my system for a better and more decent alternative. (If one does exist). My system is Debian 8.4 with icewm as my default window manager. Runnig off of Intel i3 core, and a 270 GB hard drive.
