Compaq Presario 1800T Display Connector in two pieces

Sorry, but I am new to this forum.

I recently got a Compaq Presario 1800T, and noticed that the display connector on this machine is in two pieces (like in the picture above). I tried to attach the connector pieces without luck. How would I get the connector back into one piece (I would want to get this laptop working ASAP)?

    Whoever had this previously dun fucked up. The second piece is supposed to lock the ribbon cable in place.

    Find a way to put back the little lever on top of the socket. Do it without the ribbon cable in the socket to avoid risk of damage, and make replanting easier.
    That's about the only thing you can do. Put the thing back on.
