Help with computer shutting down

I have a compaq evo d510 running windows xp. When i click on the shut down button in the menu it with shut down and after the computer light go out it will turn right back on and start right up. I check the switch in the front and its good. The computer just started doing this. I unplug and re plug wires back in. I don't know being in the cold did something to it. It was in storage for a year. Hoping someone else had a same problem with a compaq or a old P4 computer that did this. Thanks for the help.

I had this exact same problem about a year ago on my P4 3.2 GHz system running Windows XP. Problem eventually got to the point that the system would not always start at all and when it did, I was getting random errors. I installed a new Power Supply and ALL the problems went away. I have no idea if this will solve your problem, but a bad PS can cause all kind of vexing problems on your PC.
