I was reading a post on Socket3 which mentioned Visual Basic 5 Control Creation Edition (CCE). It used to be a free download from Microsoft (who has since taken it off their servers). System requirements are the same as regular VB5.0.

I found an archive file which seems to be the real thing, installer and all.

Microsoft issued Visual Basic 5.0 Control Creation Edition for FREE! VB5CCE cannot compile code into executable programs and cannot work with databases. Other than that, you can use VB5CCE to learn VB Classic. MOST code for VB6 will also run in VB5CCE.
