having problems intsalling ubuntu warthy warthhog (4.10?)

i downloaded the iso file of ubuntu 4.10 from this website but i cant seem to get past the partitioning area (note i am a noobie linux user as u can tell, advanced at windows). is there any way of at least getting past it. i keep getting errors all the time on that part, and how to fully install it too, just in case i cant get past another step.

That happens on newer VirtualBox versions, too!
But on older VBox versions it worked(I think it was 2.X.X). If not, try some older VBox versions:

Im using a newer virtualbox (5.1) but can it work on VmWare or VirtualPC?

For VMware 8.x and up it will work, if you are using versions 9.x and up, then switch it to 8.x, select custom, and change to 8.x, then go through setup, I'm not sure about virtual pc though.
