I got some weird ads popping up saying click here, and some dating ads too. Can you adjust the filter of the ads?
I've had a few occasions where this is a client side problem. It could be your browser, possibly even your operating system.
As a last resort you could always back up your data and reinstall your browsers or even your operating system as you see fit, since I'm browsing on an older MacBook and getting no ads that I know of.
Holy balls I hasn't realized the advertisements had gotten so scummy. Just switching off the adblocker I see fake download links and occasionally popups.
Not against some advertising, but it needs to be professional. Hell, I'd think people visiting this site would gladly click on ads for the latest Microsoft products or such. (Just goes to show that all that tracking and data mining "they" supposedly do these days isn't worth a hill of beans).
I agree. When I have implemented these it was primarily showing some game. Once it moved to the Ashley Madison ads I had sent the network an EMail about it which I have not yet received a response to.
It is a CPM program which is so far, doing nicely in terms of revenue, at this rate it would be enough to cover another mirror server, hence why I'm hesitant for them to go away. But if they become completely unresponsive about it, and do not deliver less scummy content, then I will be parting ways with them.
These have been running for less than a full week and we already have enough for like half a cheap hetzner/OVH box for more download bandwidth.
Part of me wants to get rid of them. I just checked them out without and ad blocker, I got shady ads but not as shady as you guys have reported. Part of me wants to keep them though. They claim to be 'unblockable' but that's obviously not the case, leaving the ads to pretty much be viewed by the ctgarrett style Trumpies who are not too intelligent. *shrugs*
Sort of sounds too good to be true. Really makes me wonder about what they claim to be shoving out anyway.
The other day someone uploaded Microsoft Gif Animator, and they said in the description that although it was a freeware tool, all the other top sites out there that claimed to have it appeared to be serving up malware downloaders and stuff. (And yet google drops vetusware... what a load of mother sexting shit). I'd hope winworld remains better than that.
Anyone else remember the day when a big green "download" button actually meant "start your download" not "click this and get infected"? What a world.
On my end I get no ads at all even though I disabled adblock for this website. Ads appear to be present absolutely nowhere, not on the main site, not on the forums. That's odd.
EDIT: That was a mistake. I just got on the main page of WinWorld and got this ad: http://i.imgur.com/KxyfWmw.png I think the fake download buttons ads are perhaps some of the worst.
EDIT 2: Apparently it's worse than that, clicking on certain links on WinWorld causes pop-ups AND ad redirects. It's actually really bad.
Please keep the screenshots of inappropriate ads and popups coming. I have linked this thread to our rep at the ad network as the source for screenshots of the complaints of the ads ran.
Kicked it around in a VM a bit more and I see more fake "download" and "play" links. they aren't even fucking advertising...
And randomly clicking around on the page (where there are no links at all) a bit this came up:
I looked this up, and reportedly this is malware!
Stitch, kill this shit with fire now!
If you really think you are going to get some response from these "people" or adjust this to tone down to real advertising, I think you are badly mistaken. Any one who serves up this kind of shit is an evil crook. They are sitting in their hovel in India laughing at you.
Arrrraggg, I just checked and noticed that Vetusware seems to be using the same advertiser. Just can't win here. Probably what got them kicked off of Google.

Yes, I noticed this several months ago at Vetusware.com. It started appearing on my WinXP PC (but not on my WIn7 PC) even with Adblock Plus.
I got something similar to the +ADD WOWMUSIX START also. What is peculiar is that the stuff only appears if I access the site directly thru a bookmark.
If I access the site thru google or vetusware.org, no ads or pop-ups appear.
Sorry, my phone is retarded and won't paste images into forum posts. Those who don't want to follow the Imgur link, it's a dating ad on the Microsoft Bookshelf 98 mirror page.
Honestly, the fake sweepstakes don't bother me much because they're everywhere else, but dating ads get all over my last nerve. Seriously, I had to refresh a page over 50 times to get an ad that wasn't one of those dating things. I don't want ads to completely go away, because from what stitch said, they bring in the money. I just hope you can guys can get them to show better ads.
Thanks,
C.J.
Thank you all for your input. I will be handling this further as I see fit as I have more than enough evidence of undesirable ads.
I am doing one more full trial run of these in order to meet minimum payouts. This should be fully removed within a few hours once this is met. I will evaluate options further at that point. Guys, seriously, for now, AdBlock.

I have them too. And they also break the SSL.

Well, no matter how bizarre this is, I hope it gets fixed soon enough.

Oh, and here is the sort of thing I am seeing:

They redirect too. :(
Things like this appear if I am A) not logged in and click anywhere on any site page, including forum topics.

I'm not even sure the Trumpies even have the PC or the internet to handle these ads. Or the ability to even notice them.
Oh, and on couple occasions clicking some link just straight up opened App Store.

(That is why I don't want to see AD on youbute.)
I still didn't find any problem on Firefox.
"Would you like an older woman?"
"We have lots of local women who can meet with men this evening"
"Join now"
Hell no.

Uhhh, thank god those ads are gone.
How much were you being paid for the ads?

I believe I got all pages that they were installed on, if you still see one *after clearing your cache* please send me a PM.
