XY Write -- How to Open?

Hi, I'm new here, so I apologize in advance, I don't know much about installing older software:

I've downloaded XyWrite II Plus, but I can't figure out how to open/install it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    If you are referring to XYWrite II Plus v1.1, there is no install.
    Just run the program from "editor.exe".

    You should come up with the splash screen shown in the Screenshots

    That seems to be the problem. I can only open "editor.exe" in TextEdit and Terminal, and neither of those seem to recognize the program in it, I just get a jumble of unknown characters.
    Sorry for my ignorance here!

    Ah wait, I see now-- I'm using a mac, and I think I had to download wine in order to run the editor.exe file.
