Run Windows 3.11 at 800x600 resolution on a Toshiba 300CDT

Hello,
I own a Toshiba Satellite 300CDT and I installed Windows 3.11 for Workgroups on a new hard drive.
The laptop displays a 640x480 resolution on Windows 3.11
I changed it to "Super VGA 800x600 256" but afterwards the screen looked like it was broken (white in the corners and black in the center !)
After deleting Windows 3.11 and installing it again I tried some other resolutions and it was the same result
I also checked some of the drivers on this website : http://www.sierrahelp.com/Utilities/Emulators/DOSBox/3x_InstallGraphicsDrivers.html
but Windows displayed a black screen after I installed some of those drivers

Does this mean that there's no way I can set the resolution to 800x600 for Windows 3.11 on that kind of laptop ?
I really don't know what to do :|

  • A quick google shows that Toshiba actually still has drivers posted for these machines  https://web1.toshiba.ca/support/isg/dri ... rivers.htm

You might try one of these. The trick, as always, is finding the exact right driver for exact system.

I'm not quite sure if this page abbreviates "300CDT" as "300" or if that refers to another model.

It is possible that they produced drivers for this machine only for Windows 95 and later. If that is the case, then the answer is usually that you will be limited to default 16-color VGA.

    Wow that's impressive !!
But it's weird that it misses the "CDT" after "300"
But anyways, I will try this as soon as possible !
If it won't work, could it be possible to try with the other *** CDT drivers or it will certainly not work ?
Update : I installed these drivers drivers on a Toshiba 4000 CDT and it worked too !
  • Thank you so much SomeGuy !! It works :P !
