Install Win95 with the installation files/iso on the hard drive. Is that possible ?

Hi, I have an old Compaq 486 running on dos.
I want to upgrade it to Windows 95 but the thing is, it doesn't have a cd drive and I don't want to make 20 floppy disks...
I can extract the hard drive from my Compaq and connect it to my PC, so my question is: Could I transfer an iso of Windows 95 on the hard drive and install the OS from dos?

Will it work? And if not,How could I proceed?
Thanks

  • Yes. If you can connect the drive to another computer, just copy the win95 setup folder to the hard drive, then put it back and run setup from there. Usually works fine.

  • This is how most of the instruction articles I've read suggest for you to install Windows 95 anyway, so that should work well for you.
