Install Win95 with the installation files/iso on the hard drive. Is that possible ?
Hi, I have an old Compaq 486 running on dos.
I want to upgrade it to Windows 95 but the thing is, it doesn't have a cd drive and I don't want to make 20 floppy disks...
I can extract the hard drive from my Compaq and connect it to my PC, so my question is: Could I transfer an iso of Windows 95 on the hard drive and install the OS from dos?
Will it work? And if not,How could I proceed?

Yes. If you can connect the drive to another computer, just copy the win95 setup folder to the hard drive, then put it back and run setup from there. Usually works fine.
This is how most of the instruction articles I've read suggest for you to install Windows 95 anyway, so that should work well for you.
