  • Yeah I'm going for at least a Pentium D or an Athlon 64. The guy who's getting me a deal said that he loves his PD.
  • Core 2 Duo is the way to go.

Go and save $200 and buy a new CPU, Motherboard, and a PCI-E x16 video card. You'd be much happier.
My old 2004 Socket A Amd Athlon 2000+ (1.67ghz.) is going to the death in 2008, but it`s performance is BETTER than, Celeron D, Sempron or Celeron (don`t buy these crappy machines, don`t be defrauded :( ) I`d prefer my actual machine than Celeron D, Sempron or Celeron (an 2007 Celeron D or Sempron hang more than my old 2004 machine!)

No. My brothers Sempron 2400 is essentially the *same* chip as yours. Not the mention the 754 range have a faster bus speed as well as a higher clock rate.

Yeah but unfortunately anantha, I don't wanna spend that much on the processor. Plus, and even though this is kinda irrelvent, I used a Core Duo on an Intel Mac under Boot Camp with XP, and it was horrible. However I'm sure that the Core 2s are better.
