  Windows 4.1 is just a marker between Windows 3.1 and 95. NT 3.51 was a cross between both.

  Windows 4.0 = Windows 95
  Windows 4.9 = Windows Me

  Are those the official numbers? I just remember the build numbers like ".950" and ".2222 (A)".

  Yea, those numbers are much more accurate. Since obviously they are the official ones. To be honest i never knew that the build numbers for 95,98 and ME carried on using the "Windows Version Number Format".
