External Serial CD-ROM drive.

So, I got the mouse working, made a stand to put the monitor on so it doesn't crush the laptop, and my modem and ethernet PCMCIA card is coming.

I am looking now for an external CD-ROM drive which will connect through a serial DB9 port. I looked on ebay and on google and cannot seem to find any at all, let alone any for sale.

Anyone know where to find some?

  • From experience, I've only seen externals using parallel or SCSI cables, not serial. Serial ports were something for mice and modems mainly.

Thank you, I am indeed able to find many with paralell.

I have an external CD drive that uses the ilink connector. I don't know if it works though.
  • i.Link = FireWire. FW was a pretty common interface for external drives of any kind.
