    Using a real firewall to block the installer for the newer version from connecting to the web causes it to avoid presenting the abhorrent "offers". It also doesn't work very well with Windows 2000 whereas this one does.

    I'm always suspicious of installers that try to connect to the Internet.

    There is an installer for the latest version available on Major Geeks that does not contain the adware. I believe only the installer downloaded directly from Lightning UK! has this adware bundled with it. The mirrors are ad-free, and still run on Windows 95 as of this writing.
