[REQUEST] Older Versions of 3DS MAX

Hi all,

I believe this thread was made in late 2016, and was wondering if we can get it going again. I have tried to get 3ds max 3 and 4 for quite some time now and was wondering if anyone has these versions? I would even settle for normal 3ds max(the original kinetix) release on windows NT, this is a link to the vetusware one, but I'm still unsure how to get passed that stupid dongle.

Any help is appreciated

  • I was unable to find 3D Studio MAX versions 3 and 4, but I found version 2 on these warez discs:
    https://archive.org/details/cdrom-twilight-018
Go to "show all", click on view contents on twilight18a.iso, then download 3DSMAX2.RAR.

I also found version 5 on Twilight release 76. Released October 2002 so a little recent but we do have some 2002-03 software now so I think I'll let it slide:
    https://archive.org/details/dvdrom-twilight-076

In this case you'll have to download the entire DVD to get to it though.

It's warez so you won't have to worry about any dongle protection.

Wow this is epic. Downloading, thank you for your help! Is twilight like a demo CD or is this the full version?

  • They're the full versions, with serials and/or cracks included. They used to be illegal but now they're abandonware. :)

Looks like I installed the sentinel drivers for cdrom-twilight-018 I guess I should restart my system to retry.

There are two separate installers for Windows 95-Me and Windows NT 4.0 (sentw95.exe and setupx86.exe). Windows 2000 and later use a different driver model so it wouldn't be compatible (unless you find the win2k sentinel driver, if there is such a thing).

As long as the sentinel drivers are loaded it should work. They should be after a reboot.

It wasn't particularly obvious to me then but if anyone is interested, 3D studio max version 4 is on this warez DVD. I found this while looking for solidworks:
    https://archive.org/details/dvdrom-twilight-058

The picture is the cover of the CD-ROM version with fewer programs (~1.5 GB vs 4.2 GB) but the ISO is the DVD, which threw me off.

Please note that the menu that is supplied with twilights before release 60 are very buggy with Windows NT-based OSes (constant ARF dialogs and executables opening and closing) and only works properly with 9x.

This is the full list of programs: twilight-cd.com/releases/2001-2/twilight-058-dvd/ (it's from March 2001 so the Windows XP is not the final version)
