How to know if CD Drive can use CD-RW or CD-R

It would been easier, if it just wrote that it is CD-RW supported thing, but it doesn't show so, it just says Compact Disc

  • If your CD-ROM is so old that it does not say if it supports CD-RW or not... then the only way to know is to try.

CD-R and CD-RW are supposed to be fully compatible with all CD-ROM drives. But as usual on practice there were some CD-ROM drives which would only read certain brands of CD-Rs and CD-RWs. When that was important (IOW: when PlayStation was just released) people compiled lists of which brands are better.

Now, when it's all in the past... I think the only way is to check.
