Microsoft Multiplan was an early 8-bit spreadsheet application for CP/M and MS-DOS with ports to numerous other platforms in the early 80s. Initially it competed against VisiCalc and later Lotus 1-2-3. A companion product, Microsoft Chart, provided graphing support. Multiplan was never ported to Windows, where it was replaced with Microsoft Excel. Excel also replaced Multiplan on the Macintosh platform.

I have Microsoft Multiplan 4.20 in my collection this version in French and have Copy Protection.

  • Any chance you could dump it with a kryoflux or SuperCard Pro? Or at least try running it through imagedisk/teledisk/anadisk/copyIIpc+snatchit so we could get some idea of what kind of protection it is using?

  • I do not how dump with kryoflux or SuperCard Pro. You can teach how to dump it.

  • Kryoflux and SCP are hardware devices, so if you don't have one of those you won't be able to use that method. There is a group of people working on a similar project called greaseweazle that has some similar functionality for a less money, and more open standards. I think those guys are more focused on Amiga software floppies, but the ideas are all the same.

    >Wanted: Multiplan 4.2, reportedly the very last version, and reportedly copy protected.

One should keep in mind, that some versions existed as localisations for some specific markets only. Good example - Japanese/Korean/Chinese versions of Microsoft WinWord 5.0 or Excel 3.1. So there's a big probability that the last English version of Multiplan was indeed 4.01.
  • In this case, I spotted one on ebay a few years back. I probably should post my database sometime.

  • Yep, this photo definitely proves that Multiplan 4.2 existed not only in French.
  • I also bought version 4.0 with 4ea of disks after this is uploaded on WinWorld.
Yes version 4.0 is now verified with same SHA1.

But version 4.01 needs verification, it seems to be only 3ea disks.
  • Here's the version 4.01a (dated June, 1st 1989):

Seems like only MP.EXE was updated comparing to 4.01
  • @tarlabnor Nice Found. I Found a Microsoft Multiplan Victor OEM on
  • Jeff Parsons found and uploaded the U.S. version of Multiplan 4.2:
