  • Here are the specs of the machines I am currently using:

Main PC: Phobos (main computer for everything)
    AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C, 16T) CPU
Stock AMD Wraith Spire with RGB LED cooler
ASRock B450 Steel Legend ATX motherboard
    16GB G.SKILL DDR4 3000MHz (2x8GB) memory
    Corsair Carbide 175R RGB case
    3x Thermaltake fans (2 top, 1 rear)
XFX 4GB AMD Radeon RX 570 GPU
960GB Crucial M500 SATA SSD (this drive is quite old for an SSD but it works extremely well)
    2TB Seagate BarraCuda 7200RPM HDD
ASUS PCE-AC55BT B1 PCIe Wi-Fi AC1200 and Bluetooth 4.2 adapter (used mainly for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi is ignored)
    450W Corsair CXM PSU
Currently running Windows 10 Pro for Workstations Version 1909
This computer is also occasionally used as a Hackintosh running macOS Catalina 10.15.6

iMac: No name, just used for various things
    2011 27" Apple iMac
    Intel Core i5-2400 (4C, 4T) CPU
    16GB DDR3 1067MHz (4x4GB) memory
1GB AMD Radeon HD 6970M GPU (this card was faulty, but I repaired it with a heat gun)
    500GB Crucial MX500 SATA SSD
Currently running macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 (would be patched to run Mojave but the GPU is not supported past HS)
Eventually the GPU will be swapped with a newer card (possibly from Nvidia) and I will put Mojave on this iMac

Workshop PC: York (general use computer kept out in my workshop)
    Intel Core i7-2600 (4C, 8T) CPU
    Stock Intel cooler
    ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3 ATX motherboard
    16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz (4x4GB) memory
    Antec Lanboy Air case
    3x Thermaltake fans (2 front, 1 rear)
ZOTAC 1GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti AMP! GPU
    240GB Adata Ultimate SU650 SSD
750W Dell PSU (pulled from a Dell XPS 630i that has seen better days)
    Currently running Windows 10 Pro
This computer was actually given to me for free with everything except the SSD and PSU in it. The original PSU was an 850W unit from Thermaltake, but it went bad and actually caused a spark somewhere on the motherboard. Thankfully nothing was damaged during that incident.

These machines are a major upgrade from the old Core 2 Duo systems I used to use, but it's been an interesting series of events that lead to me getting most of these systems. The main build was built from scratch as I really needed an upgrade, the iMac was given to me for free because the GPU was bad and the workshop machine was acquired from someone locally for free who posted a free PC case. That case ended up still having almost a complete system in it.
I still use my old Core 2 Duo systems but not as much as I used to. I've only got 2 left that still see active use: a Late 2009 Mac mini and a Dell OptiPlex 755 MT. The OptiPlex used to be my main machine but it was shifted to the role of my FreeNAS box back at the beginning of this year. It had sat unused for about a year prior after I upgraded to a different main computer before building the one I use now.
There are also a couple laptops that I have in active use, notably 2 MacBook Pros, though I will wait until later to post about them.

  • Yeah I have that board. And same CPU, though our ram may be different (also have Corsair). Though I run Server 2012R2.
I take it you're not doing any OC'ing? That board has awful VRM thermals. I'm in the midst of building a modified VRM watercooler.
