Does anyone know how to install Windows 98 on a Ryzen 5 3550H via VMware Work 16
Hello! i want to install Windows 98 on a VMware, it didnt work, horever Installing VPC 2007 on a Windows 7 VM worked, as well as installing it on a VMware 9 on a Win7 VM, is there any pach to help me?
Does 98 even work with such new hardware?
Try PCem or QEMU (without KVM).
Yes, on a Ryzen or AMD A-series CPU PC, I get most of the way through Win98's installation and then the emulated VirtualBox/VMware machine comes up with a General Protection Fault or two and the result isn't usable.
Neither of them officially support Win98 any more - VMware 9 was probably one of the last to do so.
I've also managed via VPC on an Win2000 VM, but it feels somewhat silly.
Without that extra level of emulation, QEMU works, but is s..l..o..w.. in comparison to normal VirtualBox/VMware speeds.
