There’s an interesting sealed dBase IV for Vax VMS for sale, but at a hefty price starting at £450. I wonder, if the software is included, on what format it would be released. The seller said there was no mention of that on the box.
I would be worried that software might not be included. I've seen various shrink wrapped manuals without software that were provided for network licenses. No idea what media it would have used.
I don't know for sure if early Microsoft Office packages even had a version number. They were just a product bundle at first. I have a suspicion any version number may have been on the long gone shrink wrap or registration card.
I’ve got a similar aged copy of office 1.6 for windows, still sealed in shrink wrap, and you’re right, at least as far as my copy goes, the version is only on a sticker on the outside.
I saw that and grabbed the first one. According to the listing they have two copies. (I'm a little suspicious that both copies would be WinText and not one with one of the other related products with a similar name)
Cool! One of these days I still need to ship you my copy of WinTime to see if you can recover any data. Also, if the copy of WinText you get is faulty, maybe you can fill in any gaps with my copy.
@SomeGuy, I live in France so I can try to buy and dump these Televideo floppies but I would like to know about my two recent submissions on Power/Turbo Basic in french versions if they have a chance to be published. Of course I know we all do that on a best effort basis.
Well, since you mention them, I'll bump those up on my priority list I have gotten quite behind the last few months, as I have needed to focus on some other things. I try to always inspect and test everything that is posted, and that takes time.
Got that Wintext software and made an initial dump. I'll get the stuff scanned and posted when I can.
Since someone else grabbed that other copy, I'll mention that these disks had lots of residue/mildew on their surface. But it looks like they used quality media, so a simple damp q-tip should suffice to clean those up.
I just received Televideo floppies. At first test they are readable and the one containing DOS is booting successfully. It was write protected "out of the box" if I may say so but I am not sure it was not slightly modified. Anyway I will dump/scan everything.
