Windows 95 OSR 1

Comments

  • Hi. Anyone have the Hungarian language ISO of this version?

  • oke, i dont understand it, how can i get the files on a diskette?
if i open the file i see a lot of image files but i cant unraw them
    can someone explain?
  • "It was available as a downloadable update and as a full OEM CD."

What's the first Floppy for, is it OEM or somehow it's retail or something else?
  • In which download? In most floppy distributions, there is both a boot and setup floppy. If your system already has DOS on it, then you can skip the boot disk.

wasnt windows 95 OSR1.0 or 2.0 Codenamed Nashville?
  • No. Nashville was a separate version intended to be the successor to 95, but it was cancelled in early 1996. OSR1/SP1 and OSR2 have no known codenames.

It wants me to insert disks 1-9 (it skipped to 9 for some reason), please help
it finished installing and it's broken :disappointed: some files never got copied and stuff
  • You will need to start over. ALWAYS copy the Win9x setup files to the hard drive first and run setup from there.
  • italian is missing for osr1
  • "OSR1 (Retail Upgrade)".
Aren't OSRs only meant for OEM and not retail? There is even an entire section specifically only for the One Retail Version of Windows 95! (Yes, yes, there is an OEM version of it but how would you get OEM before OSR 1 then.) I don't think the OSR1 Retail Upgrade is real, which also needs a redump which could mean something fishy... Perhaps some checksums didn't match-match and it needs a redump but it never existed(?) and this version is just made up, homemade and wasn't official. I searched online and found extremely little if not none info about it.

You have no clue about anything you post.

Searched exactly that, this is what I found.

Nothing related to the OSR 1 Retail upgrade.
  • See his screen shot, that was an AI (barf) result, and not all browsers show those results.

Anyway, just because it was distributed by an OEM does not mean they could not use the retail upgrade install type. Many OEMs were pretty sloppy in that department, so even if they weren't supposed to, someone probably did.

The download is already marked as needing a redump.
  • "See his screen shot, that was an AI (barf) result..."

lol - I have noticed that several AI results are almost verbatim of the equivalent Wikipedia entry.

IOW, Google AI = thinly disguised plagiarism.
  • I sometimes see Google AI search results are called "Slop" to the point where its became a meme. I just saw an image of a Google AI search Result saying that... You should eat a small rock every day... Easy way to get a terrible stomach ache.

I searched Windows 95 OSR 1 Retail Upgrade and found only one link to an OSR1 Upgrade CD - which is a english website strangely on a russian domain, which is something I wouldn't trust a russian website trying to disguise as a western and english shopping site, but the photos seem overwhelmingly legit:
    https://shopforsale.ru/product/375927761208

And everything on the site absolutely has discounts which is super sketchy and also the website is stuck on christmas day by its front page.
