Computer Reboots

edited August 2004 in Hardware
One of my computers reboots automatically meaning I'm on the internet, or doing nothing at all and the computer just reboots. Any ideas?

Computer Specs:
Dell Dimension XPS T500

Pentium III: 500 mhz
640 MB RAM
16 MB VooDoo3 Video Card

OS: Windows 2000 SP4
BTW, I already scanned for viruses, and found nothing. I also ran Ad-Aware, and SpyBot S&D, and that did not help any.

  • Check your power cables, make sure they're not starting to fall out.

  • Yea, my friend's Gateway had a bad power cable from the power strip to the back of the power supply (the standard kind). It was so bad that if he put his foot against the edge of the desk, it'd just go out. I brought him over a new one and now it's fine.

That worked. The plug was starting to fall out of the power strip.
