Another CPU Upgrade Post

edited January 2005 in Hardware
OK. I have a question about my CPU. I have a Compaq Presario 5UVME2, which runs a Duron 900Mhz (Socket A I think) on a FIC AZ31, also known as a UWAVE2... I think it's possible to upgrade to 1.2Ghz, but I am unsure about this. I do not have any manuals or documentation about this mobo. If I can upgrade the CPU, would it be worth it? And how would I accomplish upgrading it?

  • well you could try going for an athlon, then you would notice.
  • Chances are, if it's a Socket A, then you would be able to fit an Athlon 1.2GHz in in.

Most likely the older Thunderbird Athlons, not an Athlon XP.
  • Well Im gunna look at the prices on ebay. Ummmm If I dont get the right one would that fry my Mobo or just that CPU? I really dont want to take any chances... Ill be looking though.

Would this work? Do I need to worry about voltage? If I need to ill look in Compaq's (HP's) User Guide on the internet for this PC...
