RBASE 4.0 Help

Hello, I'm a newbie to the site. The company I work for has the old RBASE 4.0 DOS program for it's referral system... I'm trying to EDIT the Company information that is printed on the reports, and the Date in the heading field. Any ideas?? I've searched and searched on the web with no luck!! Thank you!

Oh my gosh, no one has any input for how to change report headers in RBase 4.0.... How about old Paradox 4.0, same results would work.

Sorry, I don't think there are any R:Base experts here. This is why manuals need to be archived, so at least basic information about a product is not lost.

its been decades since i used it, have to check the basement may have a copy I can reference. If I remember correctly r:base has restricted words that are program commands or variables. one of these is DATE another is TIME. I think by R'base 4000 there was a report writer program. it would let you screen paint where you wanted fields to appear,also subtotals etc.

if you can load the report template into the report writer module, which I beleive is a separate module at that era, you should be able to edit the fields and see how the report is contructed.

I'll see if I can find my old rbase 4000 book, this weekend...

might be faster for you to install rbase 3.1 or system V, they both include the report writer module, that is optional on rbase4000.

you may have to convert your database to 3.1 or system v, but they include utilities to do the data conversion.

unless you can find the rbase 4000 report writer software somewhere, you won't be able to edit it in rbase 4000...

its not difficult to edit the reports once you have the right software. the report writer and the forms we some of my favorite database software ever, easy to use and very very easy to layout and do calculations.
