I've been using it for a few days, beats Norton Utilities and all that crap! Specialises in NTFS, so I've been getting data off our old machine's HDD from 1996 that was proclaimed dead 4 years ago in a thunderstorm... too good!

Anyway, I was having fun with it, thought other people may too

SR5 is for drives that have hardware problems. EG. If Scandisk is getting alot of surface scan errors, try SR5.

I have GetDataBack for FAT32 and GetDataBack for NTFS.. Works both fine.

You say it specializes in NTFS, but does that rule out of it scanning a FAT32 drive?

Incase your wondering, I've always used FAT32 - even with 2k and XP. I just find it easier for DOS needs when the computer fails.

I wish I never went NTFS.. I mean, it DOES save TONS of space, and makes it do shit WAY faster, but its soo incompatible.

I don't have any important shit on the boot drive. If windows f*ckes up, I just format and reinstall.
I use NTFS because I hate those screens like "windows did not shut down properly". It's going to scan my second hard drive (FAT32, 20gig, transfer rate: 500kb/sec) and it takes ages.

I hate it. I turn my computer off whenever I like to. I down't want windows telling me that i can shut down my computer. If I feel like turning off my computer I hit the switch for 4 seconds and it's off. With a FAT drive it's gonna run scandisk. NTFS doesn't. So I use NTFS

Theres scandisk in Win2k and XP. If you turn it off incorrectly it will run. I'm so glad that ATX style motherboards turn off before you even see the screen that says "its safe to turn off your computer"

I think you can bypass that whole "time to shut down your computer" in Windows 2k by going to Control Panel --> Power Options --> One of those 4 tabs....you gotta check some checkbox and then your PC will shut down automatically....this goes for non-ATX style mobos too.

It depends on how much you've moved stuff around/defragged/installed new stuff/overwritten.
