  • Years back, my dad had AOL, he cancelled it and they got into his bank account without his permission and started charging him for something he did not want.
How does AOL get away with this bull?
  • Because they suck, of course.

How does AOL get away with this bull?
By people not saying anything/being to stupid to figure it out.
  • How does AOL get away with this bull?

By ripping newbies so the SEC doesn't hear.

  • Well, there ihas gotten to be an organisation to help take AOL down, reccomend other ISPs, reccomend cheaper solutions.. (maybe it is the coffee or it is me)
  • Speaking of other ISPs, would it be possible to convince a major ISP to include Firefox (or Opera) instead of IE?

  • what the hell is with this spiderman thing?
  • Get an extension called: User Agent Switcher.

It's fucken retarded. One of the admins needs to censor it to something like "I'm Gay".
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.

What does that have to do with "spiderman"? LOL

    thats what i was thinking
  • I convinced my ISP to reccomend a while back, so every n00b they talk to that says something abou8t IE, they reccomend Firefox
  • We had AOL back in 1994, for a month, would never connect so we gave it the boot.

We never got it again. I never used it cuz i didnt know what the inet was at 4.
  • i never had any problems with AOL connecting or staying connected.... i had issues with using shitty 3rd party software to connect..... thats what i hate about certein Dial Up ISP's... they make you use thier shitty dialer...... thats why i like fuse, all it needs is RAS/DUN
  • thats why i got rid of aol, their shitty dialer, it took up all the cpu and memory and never let it go, so when i ran ffx in the background the fucken thing was as slow as 95 on a 386!
  • HaH, that guy in OH I had worked with still had AOLDialer running even though he had SBC DSL. I always froze on shutdown.

    -Q
  • Speaking of 3rd party dialers, wasn't there a project called Penngy for something for Linux that could connect to AOL?
  • AOL on Linux, that's a horrifying thought.

    -Q
  • Very. But hey, one of my AOL-using (against his will - parents paying for it don't even know how to use it) friends seems pretty interested in Linux.

But I think even with the free trial they ask for a credit card number.

Judging by what they all say now "Now! No credit card required!" they don't, but I still wouldn't put it past them to worm it out of you some how.

    -Q
Actually... that no credit card part means they will take it directly out of your banking/checking account, which they also charge extra to do so... and giving them direct access to that is worse then using a credit card....
  • sooo. basicly AOL are conartists
  • I suppose.... we still have our aol account... it should be getting cancelled within a few weeks.... wonder if my attempt at preserving my SN will pay off.
  • The second you cancel, reregister it on AIM. That's what my plan is for when we cancel.
  • Well... I've thought that if you sign on with the SN in aim, then click change e-mail address, the SN will be attached to that e-mail. I changed it to a non aol e-mail, and it did change.... now all I need to do is wait and see what happens. Then again... I know of people who have cancelled aol but it still works...
  • I've heard that there are AOL services in Omsk, but do not know where they are exactly.
But someone said theyre not too bad!
  • There are!? Watch out, you'll get AOLed!

    -Q
  • I've seen a couple of their advertisements recently... I WISH to try!
  • Get rid of that wish very quickly. You'll want to.

No.... stay away... stay far away... you complain about shitty speeds now.... trust all of us sufferers... IT WILL GET WORSE. Plus you'll probably be charged for using a number out of your calling area.
  • If you forget about the fact that it uses a seperate program to dial, it's an OK ISP.

I got *perfect connections* when I used to use it. I can't see what the fuck you people are talking about. You all sound like Mac_tards talking about Windows.
