  • One 1 hand I agree it's prudent, but on the other hand I dislike legalese like that. I think a sensible middle ground would be for the individual poster to state in any posts they make which contain potentially very risky processes to say so, and that it's not their responsibilty, etc. Also, maybe we should add something like that to the rules sheet?

PS. Thanx for the apology RB, I for 1 appreciate it.
  • If the Magnet was smaller, It wouldnt Permamently
Damage the CRT, You Can get i think
its called a "magna-wand" or sumfin, my dad has
some, and it removes the colour thing that the magnet
does once on a crt, he was a tv tech for ages, so
he got that quite a few times.
  • I don't know the exact mechanics of it, but you don't want to riun your shadow mask, which I'm told is what can happen if you keep magnets near them (CRTs).

  • Luckily the speakers next to the monitor in my room say they are magneticly shielded, so they won't harm it. And my dell has bose speakers, which I would guess were shielded also.
  • I think what Tom said about the heat is right. I was able to move the monitor forward about 6 inches and it seemed to take a lot longer to get blurry.
