Linux v. Windows, what should I choose?

Hey.

I recently acquired a nice little computer:

Pentium 200mhz
48 MB RAM
24-bit color

And, I have been torn between Windows 98, Windows 95, and Redhat Linux, Fedora, SuSe, College Linux, and FreeBSD. I wonder what I should install. Any Tips?

    Nothing Important. It won't even have an inernet connection, anyway. I will just end up putting ROMs and stuff on there. BTW: it has a 2.5 GB HD.

    Yes, I know that Linux is a little ambitious for this, but i have redhat running on a 486 laptop...

    Never try installing Linux when drunk. Or if you had NyQuil in the last 6 hours, for me at least.

    I would go for 2000. I had it running pretty decently well on slightly lower specs.

    I would attempt to put XP on it, just for the heck of it.

    Actually...I would recommend....NT 4, or SlackWare (OMG. I actually recommend Slack!), or FreeBSD (not my favorite but will run nicely on it)

    Babb - Actually, I *did* put XP on that same machine. It was *faster* than on this one. I used IE 1.5 on it for a while. LOL

    Just use WinNT 40 Enterprise Server with SP6a

    Workstation and Server ARE THE SAME DAMN THING!!!!

    ONly thing different is the server software in the server edition (iis, domain shit, etc...)

    I'm use Winnt 40 Enterprise Server
    it very FAST... and protectet RPC!!!

    Doesn't it use the same RPC as Workstation?
    And yeah, RPC from WinNT4 is better than from WinXP SP1 and below..

    everything has pluses and minuses. i like linux on occasions when im bored and i want to learn how it works. i like xp because its easy. neither of them "pwn"
