which is better athlon or sempron

someone help me out, in the next 2 month I am going to upgrade my computer, which chip is better

    Sempron is a low end Athlon, I beleive.

    Athlon with less MHz, but semp. 2400 will be fsater than ath 2400 cos the semps run @ 333MHz fsb

    Sempron is just a Tbred B Athlon with a FSB bump. That's why they're faster than Celerons... oh wait... nevermind.. everything is 'faster' than a "Celeron".

    That's an outright lie. An Athlon XP 2400 is a 2 GHz chip, whereas a Sempron 2400 is a 1.67 GHz chip. Are you trying to tell me that the 33 MHz bump in FSB is going to make the Sempron faster?

    yes, but right now I have to go cheap, and get socket A so it would be a reg athlon, prob 2600

    Get the 2600 with the 333MHz FSB. I saw one on pricewatch.com for 70 bucks.

    Athlon is better, but Sempron is not much worse, but costs twice less!
