KernelEx.
(Copied from the KernelEx website.) KernelEx is an Open Source compatibility layer with an aim to allow running Windows 2000/XP-only applications on Microsoft Windows 98 and Microsoft Windows Millennium operating systems.
I do not own KernelEx and it is free of charge. I do NOT pirate new software.

(I really would like this product to spread. I think this could help some people who have very old machines get some use out of the old operating systems.)
Have a great day, and have fun with this software!

  • I also forgot to mention that it requires an active internet connection because it requires something from microsoft.
I tried downloading an official .exe file but it didn't work.
The installer needs to download it or it wont work.
  • I think most people here already know about that, but it is a useful tool.

Is KernelEx still being maintained or updated? It doesn't look like much has gone on with it in ages.

What software have you gotten to run with KernelEx?
  • Havent gotten it to run yet either because of what I was emulating it on (Mac OS X El Capitan running QEMU version Q) I couldnt get a proper internet driver but I saw someone else using it to run minecraft. And that is where I heard the about software too.

They just require to download Unicows.dll which automatically install when you install them. Simply unpack and put that library in Windows's System Dir then KernelEx installer will not ask to.
