Issues with Half Life on my VooDoo 5 PC

Hello all,

I'm currently having issues with running HL1 on my VooDoo 5 PC. I am currently able to install the game, however it gives me an error when I launch it. The error says that I cannot open a bitmap file that I actually cant find.

The specs of the PC are as follows:
AMD Athlon XP @ 1100MHz OC to 1166MHz
384MB RAM
3Dfx VOODOO 5 5500 DualGPU w/ 64MB VRAM
Windows 2000 SP4

Any help would be great, however I suspect I might have to upgrade to WinXP.

    The issue might be more to do with using Windows 2000. Windows 2000 wasn't particularly the OS of choice for gaming.

    I remember playing this on a Pentium 166, 32MB RAM, with software rendering back in high school running Windows 98 no problems.

    Good point, I'll swap out my harddrives and give it a try.

    I assume you're using the 1998 disc version and not the Steam one.

    Try patching the game to version 1.1.1.0. Perhaps one of the earlier patches fixed compatibility, as was the case with some games around that time.
