Visual Basic Overview
It's still a work in progress though I've been putting together a relatively high level overview on Visual Basic:
https://socket3.wordpress.com/2016/09/12/visual-basic-early-beginnings/
It starts with how VB came about and checks out each release. The intent is to go up to VB 6.0 before it changed with .NET. So far I'm about to start on VB 4.0. I've included things such as videos and magazine reviews relevant to the sections.
Feel free to check it if VB is of interest to you.

Comments
I actually came across a download link for VB5 Control Creation Edition. Please see my thread in Offers and Requests.
Thanks!
Thanks - getting comments like this makes it all worthwhile. I saw your thread as I was still in the process of adding details about CCE. I found the same copy as you with the intention of having it available for download which I have since done.
I wasn't aware of this edition of VB 5.0 until I came across a magazine article about it:
https://books.google.com.au/books?id=8RSHdk84u50C&pg=PA66&dq=visual+basic+5.0+pc+mag&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjEw83slM3PAhXCp5QKHe4KBVMQ6AEIITAB#v=onepage&q=visual%20basic%205.0%20pc%20mag&f=false
What is the title of this book? I'd like to read it-- a google books link would be great.
It's been a while since this request was made. I'd also like the title of the book, if ampharos still has it. Once upon a time Visual Basic was a regular part of my life, but I've since let the knowledge slip out of my head.
I don't know what book calvinb was referring too, but I still have a copy of "Teach Yourself Visual Basic 5 in 24 Hours" which has a CD that included VB5 CCE (I still have the CD too).
