In this software was an icon of the floppy with syringe in systray

    If I had to guess, then my guess would be Dr Solomon's Anti-Virus, or "Virex".

    I'm not sure if it was just a marketing brand by CA (Computer Associates) nee McAfee, or if they bought out the brand, but they were all connected.

    I have about 12-14 versions, all in the 7.x range (from warez CDs).

    You'd have to scrounge an old ftp for earlier stuff.

    Worked good too, IIRC. Don't know about the tray icon.

    It was maybe norton anti virus

    In systray was icon floppy flickering
