VMware 4.5.2 fuqued install = ARRGH

VMware is a nice VPC app, and in some cases (Noteably ReactOS) I use it instead of VPC. I've just reinstalled XP and got the new update (4.5.2)

When I try to install it, I get to the "Installing VMware Authorization Service" part and then it freezed, and takes Windows with it, right down to the recycle.

I reboot to discover that it's unlimitedly registered to noone and that it's about 1/2 installed. I have to uninstall it, MANUALLY. Which means removing 3 services, 1 directory, 1 icon, 2 registry keys, 1 user and 1 group.

Grr!

Any ideas? On how to fix it?

PS. Anyone saying "USE VPC" will get a tounge lashing.

System Restore is ughly and was disabled by me for taking too much space.

hmm, I ALWAYS have Sys. Restore on. It saves me sometimes

SysRes can be a space hog @ times. I think I've managed to clean up the damage and get it to work passably...

VMware works great for me. Never had any problems. Works soooooooo much better than bochs.

bochs has a looong way to come but it has great potential.

system restore wants like 4GB of my hard disk.....
