VMware 4.5.2 fuqued install = ARRGH

VMware is a nice VPC app, and in some cases (Noteably ReactOS) I use it instead of VPC. I've just reinstalled XP and got the new update (4.5.2)

When I try to install it, I get to the "Installing VMware Authorization Service" part and then it freezed, and takes Windows with it, right down to the recycle.

I reboot to discover that it's unlimitedly registered to noone and that it's about 1/2 installed. I have to uninstall it, MANUALLY. Which means removing 3 services, 1 directory, 1 icon, 2 registry keys, 1 user and 1 group.

Grr!

Any ideas? On how to fix it?

PS. Anyone saying "USE VPC" will get a tounge lashing.

  • Well, can you use system restore?
  • System Restore is ughly and was disabled by me for taking too much space.

  • I've ALWAYS told you VmWare is a buggy piece of CRAP! I've told everyone NOT TO USE VmWare!
  • hmm, I ALWAYS have Sys. Restore on. It saves me sometimes
  • SysRes can be a space hog @ times. I think I've managed to clean up the damage and get it to work passably...

  • SysRestore never saved me! Roxio GoBack rocks!
  • Get bochs from bochs.sf.net
