It all depends on the vendor & how they identify the drive ID as well as Microsoft's wonky volume & storage drive drivers.
For instance, I have a Sandisk Cruzer which identifies as a hard disk, even though it is not.
"Festplatten" is hard disks.
Second category(not going to type) is "devices with switchable media" aka "devices with removable storage."
Laufwerke is drives.
